Actor in talks to play new ‘Star Wars’ villain

‘Girls’ star Adam Driver is reportedly close to signing a deal to play the new villain in ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’. The villain character is to be somewhat like a “Darth Vader” type character. I’ve never watched ‘Girls’ before, so I have no idea who Adam Driver is, but it’s a show I’ve been told to check out. ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ will be directed by JJ Abrams and will be released December 18th, 2015.

‘The Conjuring’ sequel and spin off film announced

Image

‘The Conjuring’ was probably one of the most surprising movies of 2013. It was one of the best of the year on my list and will continue to be a Horror film I return to. Lucky for me, and others who enjoyed the film, there’s more to come. There will be a sequel to the film, and both Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson will both return as Ed and Lorraine Warren. No word on the plot of the film or on whether James Wan will come back to direct, but here’s to hoping that he does. Also, there will be a spin off to the film involving the Annabelle doll, the possessed doll The Warrens investigate at the beginning of the film. ┬áThe spin off will be called ‘Annabelle’ and will star Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton and Alfre Woodard and will be directed by John R. Leonetti. ‘Annabelle’ will be released October 4th, 2014, while ‘The Conjuring 2’ will be released October 23rd, 2015.

Get a good look at the monster in the new ‘Godzilla’ trailer

I’m a big fan of monster films. Cloverfield was probably one of the best experiences I had at the theatre, even with the shaky cam. The remake of the Japanese monster film looks promising, and is probably one of my most anticipated movies of the summer. ‘Godzilla’ stars Bryan Cranston, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Elizabeth Olson and is directed by Gareth Edwards. The film will be released in 3D and I MAX 3D May 16, 2014.

Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg team up for a Sega vs. Nintendo film

Image

Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg are working on a film about the console wars between Sega and Nintendo. The film will be titled ‘Console Wars’ and is based on a yet-to-be-released book with the same title written by Blake Harris. Rogan and Goldberg are planning to write and direct the film, with Scott Rubin as producer. No news on whether the film will be a Comedy or a Drama, but I’m hoping Rogan and Goldberg step outside of their comfort zones and make this one serious. ‘Console Wars’ will be released in book stores May 13th, 2014.

Here’s the books synopsis:

“Following the success of The Accidental Billionaires and Moneyball comes Console Wars–a mesmerizing, behind-the-scenes business thriller that chronicles how Sega, a small, scrappy gaming company led by an unlikely visionary and a team of rebels, took on the juggernaut Nintendo and revolutionized the video game industry.

In 1990, Nintendo had a virtual monopoly on the video game industry. Sega, on the other hand, was just a faltering arcade company with big aspirations and even bigger personalities. But that would all change with the arrival of Tom Kalinske, a man who knew nothing about video games and everything about fighting uphill battles. His unconventional tactics, combined with the blood, sweat and bold ideas of his renegade employees, transformed Sega and eventually led to a ruthless David-and-Goliath showdown with rival Nintendo.

The battle was vicious, relentless, and highly profitable, eventually sparking a global corporate war that would be fought on several fronts: from living rooms and schoolyards to boardrooms and Congress. It was a once-in-a-lifetime, no-holds-barred conflict that pitted brother against brother, kid against adult, Sonic against Mario, and the US against Japan.

Based on over two hundred interviews with former Sega and Nintendo employees, Console Wars is the underdog tale of how Kalinske miraculously turned an industry punchline into a market leader. It’s the story of how a humble family man, with an extraordinary imagination and a gift for turning problems into competitive advantages, inspired a team of underdogs to slay a giant and, as a result, birth a $60 billion dollar industry.”

New actress steps in as new love interest in ‘Ted 2’

Image

A decision that I don’t completely agree with, Mila Kunis, who plays Mark Wahlberg’s girlfriend in ‘Ted 2’, will only be back in a “tiny role, if at all”. Replacing her as Mark Wahlberg’s love interest will be Amanda Seyfried. The decision to replace Mila Kunis is a creative decision, as Seth MacFarlane feels it’s the direction the film should go. Amanda Seyfried will also join Seth MacFarlane in ‘A Million Ways to Die in the West’. along with Giovanni Ribisi and Charlize Theron. ‘Ted 2’ is set for a June 26th, 2015 release.

Harold Ramis, writer, director and actor, dead at 69

Image

Harold Ramis has passed away from a long time illness. If you’ve seen ‘Ghostbusters’, than you probably know Harold Ramis, who played Egon Spengler in the film. Harold Ramis as wrote and directed ‘Caddyshack’ and directed classic comedy films like ‘National Lampoon’s Animal House’ and ‘Groundhog Day’. My prayers go out to his family, friends and fans. R.I.P Harold Ramis.

Is Space Jam 2 actually happening?

Image

Last night, there were rumours swirling that Lebron James would star in ‘Space Jam 2’, the Looney Tunes/Michael Jordan film that was made famous 18 years ago. Apparently, those rumours were squashed by Brian Windhorst, NBA writer for ESPN, who wrote the following tweet:

“Well it was fun while it lasted. LeBron sources refute Deadline report, there’s no Space Jam 2 or Warner Bros. project in works”

Do you actually care about a ‘Space Jam 2’? I enjoyed the original. I was 5 when it came out and ‘The Bugs Bunny and Tweety show’ was something I’d watch on a regular basis. It’s been awhile since I’ve seen Bugs Bunny and the gang. A lot of people get excited when they see Space Jam 2 rumours, but I just don’t feel like it would do the original justice, and in my opinion, I don’t think it’ll ever be made. Also, keep in mind, Looney Tunes isn’t as popular now as it was in the 90’s. For nostalgic reasons, I would love to see it. ‘The Muppets’ film was universally loved and made over $165 million worldwide.

Will people go out and see another ‘Space Jam’? Probably, yes. It’s something Warner Bros. should probably green light soon. It would make a lot of money and Lebron James has already said in previous tweets that he would do it.

So my question for you is, do you want a ‘Space Jam 2’? and if not Lebron James, who do you think should be the new athlete to play in the film? As for now, ‘Space Jam 2’ has not been officially announced, so don’t get your hopes up yet.
